Apple Uglies at the Orange Blossom

Apple Uglies at the Orange Blossom Starts The Day

Made an early trip this morning to the Orange Blossom in Buxton for apple uglies and a rum raisin cinnamon roll. Nice hot and fresh. We brought them back to the cottage and had coffee with them sitting on the deck looking out over the beautiful view of Pamlico Sound. Then I took a long walk and returned for more time in the sun reading a good book. Last year I read The Summer Girls by Mary Alice Monroe, it was so good I went home after vacation and read the second one The Summer Wind. This week I am finishing off the three book series with The Summer’s End. It’s the best of the three IMO. A perfect easy and fun beach read while at the beach on vacation!

Afterwards I did some kayaking then saw a HUGE snake crossing the canal and that put an end to that! Cleaned up and we headed south to Hatteras Village to the museum, Hatteras Landing for some shopping, and then to Odens Dock to see the boats coming in. Some fish were caught but not a lot by the amount of fish they laid out on the docks. By now it was supper time so we headed to the Quarterdeck. I got the broiled crab cakes (they were very good) and the Spanish Mackerel was good also. A stop at the old Frisco Pier for some pictures and to watch the kiteboarders (with pictures to follow). Ice cream with the Snow Queen (as on her license plate!) at Hatteras Sno-Balls. Then another quiet night at the cottage. While at the Frisco Pier Steve a local said to try Bros. for a hamburger at Avon. So that may be supper for Friday. I have heard (maybe here on the board) that it was the best hamburger on the island. May go back to Ramp 49 for more beach and ocean fun in the sun! Only 2 more days, ugh! Where does the time go? I could really spend two weeks here, but then I say that every year! Love me some Hatteras Island!
