The man was the 10th ocean-related fatality this year on a North Carolina beach. Ocean surf has been rough the last several days due to the wind. Also the risk of rip currents was reported as high this weekend. In 2017 here were seven swimming fatalities at the North Carolina seashore. In 2016 there were eight swimming fatalities at the North Carolina seashore.
