Coast Guard Rescue Crew for HMS Bounty Receive Awards

Coast Guards crew based out of Elizabeth City, NC involved in the rescue of 14 crew members from the HMS Bounty are honored. The HMS Bounty sank on Oct. 29, 2012 due to rough seas during Hurricane Sandy off the coast of NC. Two rescue swimmers received the distinguished flying cross and the Hercules and Jayhawk crew received other prestigious awards and metals for their rescue efforts. Two of the HMS Bounty crew died during the sinking.
