There is a lot of sand on the highway and roads but Highway 12 remains intact. The Bonner Bridge will have to be assessed for structural damage before allowing traffic on the bridge.

The National Park Service report that all visitor facilities at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, and Wright Brothers National Memorial remain closed today. They will reopen as soon as damaged assessment and cleanup is completed.

Hurricane Florence took a turn to the south and spared the Outer Banks this time. The areas south of the Outer Banks, the Crystal Coast have not fared as well. Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach and New Bern NC have suffered a lot of damage. Many areas are under water. Water rescued have been reported.

Hurricane Florence is a very slow moving storm. Wind and rain will continue for another 2 days in North Carolina. Flooding of many rivers is expected for days to come. Downed trees, power outages, and flooding will still be a problem. Stay safe and monitor weather conditions in your area.
