Ocracoke Passenger Ferry Updates Schedule

Ocracoke Passenger Ferry Updates Schedule

The Ocracoke passenger ferry updates schedule times. The Ocracoke Express passenger ferry has taken over 5,500 passengers and bicyclists to Ocracoke from Hatters Island since starting the service on May 20, 2019. After listening to passengers request and feedback the ferry system has decided to make some changes to the schedule. The new schedule started on June 16th. There are still 3 trips per day but the times have changed. The new times for the passenger ferry departure from Hatteras are now 9:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Departure times from Ocracoke’s Silver Lake Terminal are now at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Many people wanted to stay later on Ocracoke Island for dinner and sunset. The later 8:00 pm departure time from Ocracoke Village makes this possible.

The Ocracoke Express passenger ferry has become the optional way to get to Ocracoke. Passengers park and leave their vehicles at the parking lot at the Hatteras ferry terminal parking lot. Once arriving at Ocracoke Village passengers can easily walk to many areas in Ocracoke Village. Or they can rent bikes or golf carts to get around the village. The other way to access Ocracoke is the same. The car ferries still make the trip between Hatteras and Ocracoke multiple times a day.
