Frisco Pier on Hatteras Island to be Torn Down by Park Service

Plans are for the Frisco Pier on Hatteras Island to be torn down in the next few months. The National Park Service reports the heavily damaged pier from past hurricanes has become too destabilized now. The park service plans to make the old pier parking lot an extra public access to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

Stranded Humpback Whale Dies

Humpback whale dies. A humpback whale that measured 30 foot in length washed ashore alive last Wednesday. Something was obviously wrong with the stranded whale. By Thursday morning the whale had died. The Outer Banks Stranding Response Team responded and did a necropsy (an animal autopsy) to determine the cause of death.
