A Day at Ramp 49

A Day on the Beach at Ramp 49

Today (Wed) the wind has let up to just a nice breeze with partly cloudy skies. Perfect for a day at Ramp 49. Went to eat breakfast at Sonny’s in Hatteras. Great breakfast food IMO. Rode to the museum but was not open. Parked across from the museum and walked over to see the ocean. Decided it was the perfect day to spend some time on the beach. On the way back to the cottage we stopped at Scratch Made Snackery in Hatteras for fresh bread, key lime bars and a bag of cookies. I would recommend this place to all. It was all very good-fresh and tasty! Back to the cottage to pack up and air down the tires and headed to Ramp 49. Not very crowded with lots of room between cars. Saw two different trucks get stuck in the sand on approach to ramp to exit the beach. People, you have to air down those tires to at least 20psi if not less than that. Had fun just relaxing in our chairs watching the ocean, Once the sun came out stronger we headed into the water. Rougher water and waves than usual but still fun. After about 3 hours we headed in. Calm sound waters back at the cottage so I did some kayaking. Then our first strip to Conners this week for groceries. Grilled out the steaks we bought and picked up breakfast food for Thurs am. Had such a good time on Ramp 49 we may go back tomorrow or try the ORV access near the Coast Guard Station and ferry terminal. A nice bike ride after supper and now computer time till bedtime.Still need to get to the Orange Blossom for some rum raisin cinnamon roll and apple ugly. Yes I know I talk about food a lot and my shorts are getting awful tight in the waistband! Oh well-it’s vacation. I’ll go on a diet next week.

This isn’t us but when driving on the sand at Hatteras you better letter the air out of those tires or this will be you, stuck in the deep hot sand!
