Dare commissioners approve occupancy tax hike

The Dare County Commissioners voted in total agreement Monday, July 15th, to add an additional 1 percent increase in the occupancy tax to assist in paying for local beach nourishment. This raises the Dare County motel, hotel and vacation home rental tax rate to 6% of the home rental rate. This move raises the tax rate to the 6% maximum with 2% of this tax going to the Shoreline Management fund.
