A young man drowns at the Outer Banks on Hatteras Island. Matthew Ridpath from Montpelier, VA drowned on June 26 after going into the water to help his younger brother. The 15 year old brother went in for a swim while on the beach near the Frisco Pier and started struggling in the water. Matthew went in to help his brother. A second man joined in to help the brothers. Matthew was brought to shore unresponsive and the younger brother was brought to shore near unresponsive .CPR was started and both brothers were taken to a local medical facility. Matthew Ridpath was pronounce dead, his younger brother was transported to the Outer Banks Hospital.
