More Erosion Found on Bonner Bridge on Outer Banks

Recent sonar scanning of the Bonner Bridge at the Outer Banks of NC have shown new areas of erosion on bridge supports. More inspections of the bridge that crosses over Oregon Inlet from South Nags Head to Hatteras Island will be done to insure the bridge is safe for traffic. The bridge was opened in 1963. A new bridge to replace the Bonner Bridge has been in the works for years but several lawsuits filed have caused repeated delays.
