Hurricane Arthur 2014 Damage Reports From NC Outer Banks

Hurricane Arthur 2014 is retreating fast.The southern Outer Banks (the Crystal Coast) fared very well. The northern Outer Banks did better than expected. Some beach erosion, sand and overwash on the roads, and soundside flooding. Bonner Bridge remains closed until deemed safe to cross. Power outages for many. No loss of life! Sand and sound water overwash reported on Highway 12 on Hatteras Island. Highway 12 at temporary bridge on Pea Island has some buckling of the pavement. Multiple power poles down on Ocracoke Island. Soundside flooding on US 64 between Manteo and Nags Head. Soundside flooding issues in Manteo, Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk. No reported deaths. Rip currents still a problem.
