The Outer Banks got a rare winter snow fall this week. The islands of Hatteras and Ocracoke got 1/2- 1 ” of snow while further north Manteo and Nags Head got 4-6 “. Even further north Duck and Southern Shores got 7” of snow. While the Outer Banks has gotten snow in the past this amount is very unusual. Due to the snow some Outer Banks facilities were closed: Cape Hatteras National Seashore, the Wright Brothers National Memorial, and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site were closed.
