An Outer Banks Vacation in June
We came down Sunday for our annual Outer Banks vacation on Hatteras Island! The trip down was nice with clear blue skies. The temperature was 90 until we got to the Alligator Bridge on Highway 64 then it dropped to 83! Nice. It’s been nice ever since. A love that cool ocean breeze! We checked in about 3:30PM to the cottage in Frisco, NC. We always play a game-what do you think the owner has done to the place? So we drive up and WOW- the lift is gone, all new fencing, new under house storage door, and new washer and dryer. Hurricane Matthew last fall did a number on this place. And the three vacant lots next door are ALL NO LONGER VACANT! Neighbors to the right, neighbors to the left. The quiet little cul-de-sac is now full!
After unpacking we were too tired to cook here so we headed out for supper. Most all the restaurants were closed except Roccos in Hatteras. So we ate there. I just love their lasagna. It was really good. A quick trip to the store and back to the cottage. This morning we woke up to clear blue skies and a nice breeze. Cooked breakfast at the cottage and then spent the day here enjoying the cottage, deck, views and the sound. Took a long walk, did some reading, got some sun, kayaked a little and went for a short bike ride. Then headed to Buxton for an ORV permit. Ate at The Captains Table then more grocery shopping. At Connors we ran into Donna who used to run the ice cream and putt putt golf place in Buxton! Had not seen her in years! It was fun catching up.
We have seen the ISS fly over both nights. The moon rising last night was beautiful, not quite full. A quiet night at home. Tomorrow we plan to go to Ramp 49 for some beach time. I love my Outer Banks vacation on Hatteras Island!
