Outer Banks Protest Planned for Saturday October 5 at Noon

A peaceful protest is planned on the Outer Banks on Hatteras Island at the opening to Cape Point in Buxton, NC. The protest is in response to the government shutdown that has resulted in beach closures at the Outer Banks. The weather has been wonderful and it’s almost prime fishing season at the Outer Banks and the government shutdown has closed many areas to visitors, tourist and the locals as well. Several hundred people are making plans to attend the protest. A Facebook page called “The People’s Beach” is up in support of opening the beaches and helping to spread the word of the planned protest.
