Woman Medevaced Off Cruise Ship Near Cape Hatteras

A 61-year-old woman was medevaced off cruise ship that was about 230 miles off the coast of North Carolina east of Cape Hatteras. The Coast Guard crew members from the nearby Coast Guard Air Station in Elizabeth City responded and removed the unconscious woman from the  cruise ship Norwegian Breakaway. She was taken off the cruise ship by lifting her up into a helicopter by basket. She was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. She arrived in stable condition it was reported. No further information has been released.

The Coast Guard Air Station in Elizabeth City near the Outer Banks of North Carolina is often called to respond to medical emergencies requiring evacuation from passengers on cruise ships off the nearby North Carolina coast.
