A Quiet Start

Day One – A Quiet Start

After sleeping in this morning we woke up to beautiful blue skies and light winds. A quiet start sitting on the deck and drinking coffee. Then breakfast at the cottage-scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and the sweetest cantaloupe we had bought at the Red & White. Then some time in the sun on the deck reading. A bike ride around the neighborhood to see what had changed since last summer.Got the kayak out and ready for tomorrow (with that ever important life vest attached so I don’t get a ticket from the Park Service! A quick dog walk then out to get that ORV permit. A successful trip this time! Saw the lighthouse and the new site of the lightkeepers stones. Then supper at The Captain’s Table. The food was good as always (one of our favorite places). Rode to Hatteras to rent a bike from Austins across from the Red and White. Met the owners and he is a very likable guy that can sure make you laugh! A stop at the grocery store for more breakfast food for the AM. Plan to eat at the Cancer Fund dinner at Village Marina Tuesday night. That food every year is AWESOME! A quiet night after watching the sunset although the brush next to the cottage has grown so tall it has almost blocked the sunset view. No puzzle this year (not yet anyway). I like this WI-FI at the cottage but sadly I find myself spending too much time on my cellphone instead of enjoying the downtime of a vacation. Loving this weather so far. May be going to Ramp 49 tomorrow and getting in some beach and ocean fun. Loved my first full day of my Hatteras Island vacation.
